I launched Friday because existing solutions for artists aren't good enough.
Bandcamp
Bandcamp has an outdated user experience for shoppers, and lacks the necessary features for modern digital marketing campaigns.
Shopify
Shopify isn't tailored to the specific needs of artists, and is unapproachably expensive for a musician early in their career.
Friday's Promise to Independent Artists
I designed Friday around three commitments that shaped every product and engineering decision.
Artist-First Economics
It's free for artists to open a store, and Friday takes a smaller revenue share than Bandcamp. The platform only makes money when artists do. Incentives stay aligned from day one.
A Storefront Built for Music
Artist pages live on their own subdomains with an audio player front and center. Digital downloads and physical merch can all be bought in one place.
Production-Grade Trust
A marketplace only works if artists trust it with their income, and fans trust it with their credit card info. Using the Stripe Connect API, each artist is the merchant of record on credit card transactions.
Point of View

Voice & Tone: The product voice is confident and a little irreverent — the same personality that named a Bandcamp competitor "Friday." Rich-text editors give artists room for expressive bios and liner notes, so each storefront carries the artist's voice, not the platform's.

Merged Pull Requests
What started as "could I design a better Bandcamp?" is now a production platform: artists have their own subdomains, sell digital and physical goods in one cart, run their own promotions, and get paid directly — all wrapped in a brand system that stays accessible by construction.
